Bicycle NL welcomes new board members

Bicycle NL would like to welcome two new members to the board of directors!


Mel Fitzgerald, Director of Paracycling

Mel has had a long and successful history as a wheelchair track athlete. He won marathons in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Honolulu and represented Canada at two Paralympics, two Pan American Games and the 1984 Gold Cup in Australia. He won gold medals at each of these competitions and set two world records at the 1980 Paralympics. In 2018 Mel was inducted into the Canadian Wheelchair Sports Association Hall of Fame. Mel has a keen interest in paracycling and in promoting the sport for youth and adults. 


Jenn Wicks, Director of Women's Cycling

Jenn is an accomplished cyclist who has participated in races all over the world. An outspoken cycling advocate, Jenn has developed a social media presence through her cycling adventures and local advocacy. She recently raised over $5000 for Cycle for Sight on a cross-Newfoundland T'railway adventure. Jenn is passionate about raising the profile of women's cycling in the province.
