One Metre Rule in NL – Bicycle Safety Campaign

When passing a bicycle rider, do so at a safe distance - 1 metre from the bicycle where the speed limit is 60km/h or less or 1 1/2 metres from the bicycle where the speed limit is greater than 60km/h.

Also, it is perfectly acceptable for a motorist to cross the line when it is safe to do so in order to provide the 1 or 1 1/2 metre distance when passing a bicycle rider.

Happy and safe cycling!
