How to be a Visible Cyclist – Bicycle Safety Campaign

Being visible on a bicycle improves the level of safety for cyclists.

Make sure you are visible day and night.

Fluorescent colours work best because the sun's ultraviolet rays make them appear to glow.

Choose a high-visibility road bike helmet. Some have the option to attach a rear-blinking red light.

Wear a high visibility jacket or vest. Wear high visibility socks, shoes, and gloves.

Attach rear high-visibility blinking red bike light to your bicycle. It is recommended to have a second light for backup.

At night fluorescent material is not effective since there is no sunlight.

Wear fully reflective clothing made from 100% reflective material, this giving a cyclist a chance to be truly visible. Safe cycling!
